Job description

Our client is currently seeking an experienced CNC press brake operative to join their ever growing team in Chilton.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC press brake and metal forming machinery to produce precision components.
  • Configure and adjust tooling, bend allowances, and machine programs for various materials (stainless steel, aluminium, and mild steel).
  • Verify and approve first-off parts to ensure conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks and oversee quality compliance for other operators within the team.
  • Support and mentor less experienced operators, providing guidance on safe operation, setup, and quality practices.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical data.
  • Identify and resolve production or quality issues promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Monitor and maintain machine performance and carry out basic maintenance or fault reporting.
  • Work closely with the Production and Quality teams to ensure all output meets required standards.
  • Promote and uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency at all times.
Person Specification
  • Formal engineering or manufacturing qualification preferred (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in CNC press brake or metal forming operations.
  • Strong ability to set up, program, and adjust machinery independently.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments (verniers, protractors, gauges, etc.).
Working Hours
  • Start on Dayshift for training and induction.
  • Move to 2-shift rotation (details of shift times will be provided)
