Job Description : CNC Lathe Programmer

Looking for a solid, well-paid role with a respected engineering company?

We're seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer with strong Fanuc skills to join a growing team in Dudley.

The Role

As a CNC Lathe Programmer, you will be responsible for the full cradle‑to‑completion machining process. Your main duties will include :

  • Creating and editing programs directly at the machine using Fanuc controls
  • Setting and operating CNC lathes to produce small‑to‑medium batch components
  • Reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Selecting appropriate tooling, setting up workholding, and performing tool offsets
  • Carrying out in‑process inspection using micrometers, verniers, gauges, and other measuring equipment
  • Maintaining high‑quality standards and ensuring components meet tight tolerances
  • Troubleshooting machining issues and making necessary adjustments to optimise cycle times and surface finish
  • Keeping work areas clean, safe, and compliant with company standards
The Ideal Candidate
  • Strong experience programming CNC lathes using Fanuc
  • Able to work with a variety of metals including steel, stainless, alloys, and exotics (advantageous)
  • Confident with tight tolerances and precision engineering environments
  • Self‑motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently on an afternoon shift
  • Good understanding of machining principles, cutting speeds, and feeds
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a keen eye for detail
