This role operates primarily on a remote working arrangement that will require little to no travel into our Coventry head office or local campus. Our working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

The Team is responsible for implementing DevOps practices, toolchains and methodologies that are central to delivering the company's IT vision and strategic goals. This team contribute directly to enhancing the stability, security and scalability of our systems through automation and a focus on continuous, iterative improvement.

The wider IT team is made up of around 60 employees with a vast range of skills from Software Development to IT Operations and IT Security. Our IT Department values employee development and we have lots of great examples of employee progression and promotions within the team.

About the Opportunity

This DevOps role sits within the Cloud Platform team as part of the wider IT Department. About You

You’ll have experience in some or all of the following:

  • infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS-CDK.
  • MySQL/SQL for database management.
  • Bash/Python/TypeScript.
  • Grafana/Prometheus, AWS CloudWatch, New Relic.
  • Version control systems like Git.
  • Security practices, including firewalls, ACLs, antivirus tools, encryption protocols, identity and access management (IAM), and cloud computing compliance.
  • DevOps environment, utilizing infrastructure as code (IaC), automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Git-based workflows and operational methodologies such as GitOps.
  • AWS services, including EC2, EKS, VPC, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Route53, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, API Gateway, SNS/SQS.
  • Containerisation technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes, for building, deploying, and managing applications in scalable environments.
  • System automation for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment to reduce manual intervention and increase operational efficiency.
  • Deploying and maintaining Linux systems.
  • Designing and implementing scalable cloud architectures that can handle high traffic and large-scale data storage efficiently.
  • Troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure issues, from networking and security problems to performance bottlenecks.
Desirable skills
  • AWS Certifications (Associate, Professional Levels).
  • Microsoft Azure Certifications (Associate, Expert Levels).
  • Core software development principles, including design patterns, architecture, and methodologies.
  • PHP and PHP frameworks.
  • Front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience working within a security framework such as PCI DSS, Cyber Essentials, and ISO 27001, ensuring compliance and security best practices are met.
  • Agile methodologies, collaborating in sprints, managing releases, and delivering incremental, high-quality software.
  • Azure services, including VNET, Resource Groups, Service Bus, Azure Logic Apps, API Management, and Automation Accounts for cloud infrastructure management and integration.
