Our innovative programme aims to produce a new type of doctor - excellent and holistic clinicians who can drive change, delivering integrated and technologically advanced healthcare for their patients and communities. Lead for Year 3 & 4 of the Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) Programme

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual for the key role of Lead for Year 3 & 4 of our GEM Programme. This post is crucial in assisting the Dean, Programme Director, and Lead for Assessment in coordinating the development, delivery, and assessment of Years 3 & 4 of our curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Act as academic lead for years 3 & 4 of the programme, maintaining and developing high quality teaching and assessment throughout both years.
  • Work closely with the specialty theme leads to ensure appropriate teaching and learning opportunities for students on specialty and final year rotations.
  • Support quality assurance processes across both years of the programme and support the programme director in the development and innovation of year-specific teaching modalities and learning resources including technology enhanced learning.
  • Lead and support the academic and clinical skills team to ensure delivery of the final year knowledge, clinical, professional and practical skills and procedures programme, to satisfy the specific requirements for the Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA) and a primary medical qualification.
  • Support Year 4 students in their application to Foundation School Training programmes.
Position details
  • This is a 0.4 FTE (4 PAs) role (2 PAs Year 3 lead and 2 PAs Year 4 lead).
  • The University is anticipating a joint contractual arrangement with an NHS Trust, or Honorary contract provider such as the Integrated Care Board.
  • For example, a Trust could remain the substantive employer in line with the relevant NHS pay scale, and the successful candidate would have an Honorary Clinical Academic contract with the University.
Requirements
  • Be a senior clinician with full GMC registration; ideally, experience working as a Consultant Physician in General Medicine.
  • Hold a higher professional qualification (usually a doctoral degree or equivalent) and, if possible, a teaching qualification.
