Overview

Clinical Trials Coordinator (Band 4-5 development role) within Research and Innovation (R&I) at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) to support research across all MFT hospitals. The post forms part of the Collaborative Team supporting a range of specialties including Burns & Plastics, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Audiology, ENT, Head & Neck, Ageing & Dementias, Dermatology, Neurology, Colorectal, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Hepatobiliary, and Maxillofacial. The post is offered as a Band 4-5 developmental role, with progression to Band 5 after competency assessment within the first 6–12 months and mentorship provided.

The role involves flexible and adaptable support for study set up and coordination, working with investigators, the Trust Research Office, clinical colleagues, service support departments, and external pharmaceutical companies.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and coordination of studies, ensuring comprehensive, high-quality administrative processes.
  • Organise necessary approvals and data management in line with regulatory frameworks and internal SOPs.
  • Financial management of study set-up costs and income recovery in conjunction with the R&I finance team.
  • Act as a main point of contact for the specialty research team and collaborate with investigators and external partners.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and SOPs to support the delivery of the research portfolio for the speciality.
  • Provide robust training and development to meet competency criteria for progression to Band 5.
  • Travel to other Trust sites as required and work flexibly within the team.
Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level in a health-related discipline or have demonstrable experience in the conduct and management of research and clinical trials.
  • Line management experience is desirable.
  • Strong organisational, data management, and communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
