Clinical Support Worker - Outpatients

Band 3 Clinical Support Worker - part time - 16 hours per week

The band 3 will be generic to cover a variety of speciality clinics namely, Colorectal, Cardiology, Rheumatology, Renal, respiratory, Urology, ENT.

The post holder will be flexible across WI/WCH to cover service need.

You will work with indirect supervision under the Registered Nurse; assisting with nursing care and providing information and assistance to the patient, their relatives and carers. You will also utilise acquired skills gained from an extended role as directed by the lead clinical nurse of the department.

Applicants will possess GCSE English & Maths or equivalent; National Care Certificate or commitment to complete as part of induction process, and an NVQ 3 in care (willingness to complete within one year of start date) or equivalent experience. You will also have experience of working in a customer focused / caring environment.

Main duties of the job

The CSW will be expected to set up/ close down the various speciality clinics have extended skills eg, Venepuncture, ECG recording, Basic Observations, Blood Glucose monitoring and Spirometry.

The successful individual needs to be approachable, flexible & keen to learn. Have an understanding of the Trust's values & expectations & present themselves in a professional manner at all times

Qualifications
  • Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties
  • National Care certificate or commitment to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
  • Or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; -Theoretical knowledge -Experience of a range of care and related procedures -clinical observations knowledge of data protection legislation and health and safety at work legislation
  • Undertake relevant additional training for Clinical Support Workers
Experience
  • Experience of working in health or social care.
  • Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalating changes or findings
  • Insight into behaviours and skills of a carer and the need for effective team work.
