Job description

The post holder will be responsible for providing strong clinical expertise within the RVH Urgent and Emergency Care service. The BHSCT has 2 Level 1, Adult Emergency Departments with the RVH ED being the major trauma centre (MTC) for Northern Ireland, as well as being the tertiary centre for a wide range of specialist services, with many of these patients presenting at the ED or Urgent Care Centre in the first instance. The post holder will develop and promote the Urgent and Emergency Care service within the Belfast Trust. Maintain standards in line RQIA core indicators for acute hospitals. Ensure clinical creditability and act as role model, supervisor, preceptor and mentor. Participate in Major Incident planning and training and manages the department in the event of a major incident in the absence of the person with continuing responsibility. The post involves 24 hour cover to include day and night duty, evenings, weekends and bank holidays in any area of the Trust to meet the needs of the service as required.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supervising nursing staff and for maintaining the highest standard of nursing car.
  • The post holder is designated to take charge regularly of the Department in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse for 3 years, with at least 2 years’ experience in emergency nursing.
  • Have a degree relating to Emergency Care.
