Job description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position:

Works for the Army Review Boards Agency (ARBA), Arlington, VA, under the Senior Medical Advisor.

Duties
  • Serve as medical case analyst and voting member on Army Review Boards Agency boards on cases involving behavioral health-related issues.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in a highly technical and specialized area of psychological health research and advisory services.
  • Advise the Senior Medical Advisor on activities and functions pertaining to the evaluation of service-connected behavioral health issues and psychological health programs and projects.
  • Provide medical expertise primarily pertaining to behavioral health issues, case review and reassessments, and medical interpretations to the requesting boards and panels of the agency.
  • Continually research, prepare and present briefs and advisory opinions concerning all cases involving medical issues or related policy interpretation.
  • Routinely ensure the final assessment and individual final vote is fair and accurate and is conducted in consonance with all applicable guidance.
Requirements
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
  • One year trial period may be required.
