A regional healthcare provider in the UK is seeking a clinical psychologist to work with adults who have learning disabilities. This full-time role spans 37.5 hours per week, offering diverse responsibilities including assessments, therapy, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Candidates should have experience or training in this field and a commitment to professional development. Opportunities for supervision, service development, and involvement in research initiatives are included.
This post offers great opportunities with our Team of Clinical Psychologists. We are supportive and skilled in working with Adults with Learning Disabilities. As CPs in this specialty, we work across a diverse range of clinical areas, including mental health issues, dementia, neuropsychology, challenging behaviour, capacity, bereavement, trauma, autism, and more. We use a range of inventive adaptations to meet communication and cognitive needs and are trained in therapies including CAT, EMDR, ACT and CBT. We are involved in clinical and research initiatives and are closely affiliated with the Doctoral Clinical Psychology programmes at Exeter and Southampton. We work with a wider MDT, enabling shared skills and support through close collaboration with colleagues from Health and Social Care. We provide excellent clinical supervision, support, and opportunities for professional development, with a track record of offering additional training in therapies and specialist areas of interest.
We provide a comprehensive and supported Preceptorship Programme from Band 7 to Band 8a for this role. This is a great opportunity to consolidate and develop core skills learned during clinical training under supervision of highly skilled clinical psychologists. The role is diverse and offers opportunities to develop individual therapy skills, contribute to service development, pursue professional development, and work with a range of skilled professionals passionate about working with adults who have a learning disability. Clinical work covers a range of problems, including skilled and often complex assessments (e.g., capacity, diagnostic assessments). Group work is possible with colleagues from within the CTLD and other services. Consultation and supervision of other professionals within the Psychology Team and the wider MDT are regular parts of the role.
