About Us

Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice is in Oxenhope, near Keighley. As well as expert palliative care, we support people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We work across Airedale, Wharfedale, Craven, and north Bradford.

We support people aged 18 and over who are living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, heart failure and lung disease by combining specialist medical care for managing pain and other symptoms with other emotional, practical and spiritual support.

We are able to provide care in our inpatient unit and our CNS and therapies teams are on hand to visit people and provide care for people in their own home.

About the Role

Our Clinical Nurse Specialists play an essential role in providing high-quality, person-centred care for individuals facing life-limiting illnesses. Their role extends beyond direct patient care to include education, leadership, and advocacy.

By combining clinical expertise, emotional intelligence, and leadership skills, they ensure that patients and families experience dignity, comfort, and peace during some of the most challenging times of their lives. Their role enhances the overall quality of palliative care and supports the healthcare team in delivering the best possible outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Palliative Care Nurse who wants to work in a supportive environment where the care of the patients comes first.

Your main duties will be to provide direct assessment, support, and advocacy to service users and carers dealing with complex, distressing and life-limiting illnesses.

  • Manage your own caseload and provide expert care to service users, appropriate to their needs, wishes and culture.
  • Collect, collate, evaluate and report information, maintaining accurate service user records.
About You

The successful applicant will play an active role within our team. Sue Ryder prides itself on giving our patients the best possible quality of life by providing a holistic and individualised service.

Our ideal candidate will have significant experience of working in Palliative and End of Life Care with evidence of additional, role specific qualifications and professional development.

  • Advanced communication training (e.g. Sage & Thyme)
  • NMP qualification
  • Experience with symptom management in complex needs

Sue Ryder provides a thorough induction with supernumerary time to settle into the role and full training/competency assessment will be provided.

There is plenty of scope to further develop your own skills in specialist palliative care, and planned career progression through our education programme and development framework is encouraged.

If you would like to arrange an informal visit to our hospice, please let us know.
