Job description

We're looking for qualified, experienced, and motivated General Practitioners to join our multidisciplinary team at the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), co-located with the Emergency Department at Colchester Hospital. Ideal candidate will have experience working in both Primary and Secondary care, ideally within the Emergency Department or specialist interest in Urgent and Emergency Care and have experience in the management of both illness and injury in Adults and Children.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment alongside Paramedics, Nurse Practitioners, ACPs, Nurses, and HCAs.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide same-day care for minor injuries and illnesses in both adults and children (from birth).
  • Work closely with Emergency Department colleagues to enhance clinical skills and patient care.
  • Deliver safe, timely, and effective treatment independently.
  • Refer patients to specialties for ongoing care and specialist opinion when necessary.
  • Support and lead the multidisciplinary team in clinical decision-making.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
  • Be on the NHSE medical performers list
  • Completion of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within 6 months of CCT

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Interest in regular or ad-hoc rotational rotas
