Job description
Clinical Fellow – Obstetrics & Gynaecology (ST1/2)

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to commence as soon as possible at Basildon Hospital.

Situated in the South East of England, Basildon Hospital offers easy access to the Channel Tunnel, London and the national motorway network via M25.

The Trust has an ongoing commitment to first class service delivery and innovative long‑term initiatives and is a University Hospital Teaching Status with University College London.

Responsibilities
  • The doctor will be expected to show qualities of leadership but also to know their limitations and call for help and advice appropriate.
  • ST1/2 level doctor will be expected to gain the necessary competencies by rotating through the services in order to gain the relevant experience.
  • Trainees will also begin to work independently.
  • Liaise between midwives, nurses, other junior doctors, patients, relatives and senior medical staff.
  • Attend to the day‑today management of day cases, outpatients and inpatients.
  • Attend and participate in ward rounds and operating sessions as timetabled.
  • Attend general and specialist outpatient, diagnostic and pre‑assessment clinics.
  • Teach medical students as directed.
  • Supervise, monitor and assist the F2 doctors in post‑take ward rounds as part of the rostered emergency work.
  • Keep up to date with all administrative duties including letters, results and discharge summaries as required.
  • Study for higher examinations and maintain continued professional development.
  • Undertake and assist in audit projects at various times throughout the rotations.
  • Attend weekly educational and MDT sessions.
  • Cooperate with members of the medical workforce team when monitoring hours of work.
  • Attend induction.
  • Attend PM demonstrations when required.
