Job description
Overview

The role is a full‑time urology clinical fellow at The Christie Hospital, with an effective start date of February 2026. The post offers a high‑quality tertiary referral urological cancer service across theatre, outpatient and cystoscopy sessions, and participation in multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) and clinical research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prostate cancer diagnostics and robotic surgical management
  • Testis cancer – retroperitoneal surgery
  • Soft tissue sarcoma – robotic or open surgery
  • Penile cancer and andrology – including penile prosthesis
  • Renal and adrenal cancer – robotic or open surgery
  • Surgical management of late effects, including genitourinary reconstructive surgery
  • General core urology duties
  • Research activities with aim for publication or presentation
Additional Duties
  • Support the consultant urological surgeons and work alongside junior doctors.
  • Attend weekly MDT meetings and participate in regular audit.
  • Attend diagnostics clinics and assist in pre‑operative preparation and post‑operative care.
  • Collaborate with senior medical colleagues and contribute to teaching.

Qualifications

4 years of full‑time postgraduate training, including at least 2 years in a specialty training programme, with core urology skills. Evidence of teaching activity in the last 12 months and a desire to continue teaching. Previous senior fellow level experience is required.

Work Hours

40 hours per week. No on‑call rota.

Professional Development

The trust supports Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as set out by the GMC and surgical colleges, and will provide time and financial support.
