Job description
Clinical Fellow – Anaesthesia

This application is for the post of Clinical Fellow in Anaesthesia at University College Hospitals NHS Trust. The post is offered on a 12-month fixed term basis and provides an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven candidate to join a progressive and dynamic department. They will contribute to developing our goals of clinical excellence, training of the highest quality in Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine and world class research.

  • Complex Major Surgery/Bariatrics
  • Obstetric Anaesthesia

Bespoke fellowships may be accommodated, dependent on availability. There is typically one post per subspecialty. You may wish to consider interest in multiple subspecialties at application/interview.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a majority of clinical sessions in the chosen fellowship, supplemented with sessions in other areas of personal interest and department needs.
  • Run appropriate elective lists independently to build practice.
  • Provide half a day per week for research, education and management.
  • Engage in QI, audits, teaching or research and be encouraged and supported to do so.
  • Work within the on‑call rota (typically 1 in 9, covering theatres and/or the labour ward) with alternative rota discussed beforehand if it applies.
Work Hours & Oncall
  • On call commitments are typical 1 in 9, covering theatres and/or the labour ward. Where the on call rota is full, an alternative rota will apply – this will be discussed beforehand should it apply.
