Job description
Overview

There is excellent opportunity for an Emergency Medicine doctor to advance their career as a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST4+) with obtaining a postgraduate qualification. Post-holders will be based at West Middlesex University Emergency Department. This is suitable as an out of programme post; for information on seeking prospective GMC approval for training, please refer to the GMC website.

Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Consultants, supervise the FY2s and perform hands-on work alongside other middle grades.
  • Contribute to the department’s new working patterns and take on roles such as lead middle grade, resus lead and rapid assessment team.
  • Run the Emergency Department; provide out-of-hours clinical work in the Emergency Department.
  • Support teaching and postgraduate training; ensure opportunities for professional development.
Qualifications
  • Appointee will be expected to already have, or obtain during the appointment, certificates in ATLS and ALS. Most Consultants are Instructors on these courses.
Work Pattern and Location

The rota is a full shift pattern providing 24-hour cover to the Emergency Department with 1:3 weekends. The shift pattern is new deal compliant with a 1A banding. The pay banding may change to comply with new working practices or regulations relating to the reduction of Junior Doctors Hours. This job is for Senior Clinical Fellows based at Chelsea and Westminster Emergency Department (0.6 WTE) and the remaining time will be spent developing simulation, teaching and medical educational skills.
