Reference number: SC07825
Location: London
Schedule: Full-time
Salary Range: (Full time equivalent) - £50,175 - £57,495
Contract Type: Fixed Term
Southwark has declared a climate emergency and work is underway to transform the council and borough so that we achieve our ambition to be carbon neutral by 2030.
We know we need to lead by example and cut the council’s own carbon footprint – including from our leisure centres, libraries, civic and council buildings – while maintaining excellent services for residents. So we have an ambitious target for our operational buildings to achieve a 50% reduction in emissions by 2026, and to become carbon neutral by 2030.
Do you want to be part of making this vision a reality?
You will be leading on our fast-moving, multi-million-pound investment programme to decarbonise our leisure centres, as well as identifying and shaping future schemes across our civic buildings and wider estate, and helping to secure associated funding.
You will work with technical advisors, contractors, cross-service teams, and other key stakeholders to ensure successful, high-quality delivery. Responsibilities will include leading on contract management, technical design review, procurement, on-site delivery, project monitoring and evaluation, risk management and resolution, and achieving and monitoring carbon savings.
Sitting within Southwark’s climate change division, you will be part of a small, dynamic team responsible for delivering one of the council’s top priorities. You will also receive support from a multi-disciplinary programme board and working groups overseeing our operational retrofit strategy.
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic project manager to join the dynamic cross-council team driving our buildings retrofit strategy.
Southwark is an exciting place to work and proud to celebrate its diversity as a borough. We particularly encourage and welcome applicants from Black, Asian and ethnic minorities since we are underrepresented in this area of the business.
If you think you have the right experience, expertise and values to add to our culture, please do not hesitate to apply.
This vacancy has arisen following an internal promotion, and we are seeking to appoint a capable individual as soon as possible to support the delivery of this fast-moving programme of work. As we are entering a critical phase, we will take account of candidates’ notice periods alongside their skills and experience during the selection process.
This post is offered on an initial 12-month contract, with the potential for extension subject to business needs and performance.
