Job summary

A leading construction consultancy is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works to ensure quality and compliance on-site during major projects. You will play a critical role in monitoring work, reviewing project documentation, and maintaining communication with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in the construction industry and must be a member of the Institute of Clerk of Works or an equivalent. Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years’ practical, construction-related experience monitoring works onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Review contract drawings, schedules and consultant information.
  • Study bills of quantities, specifications and project programmes.
  • Understand the Health & Safety Plan and relevant British Standards.
  • Establish communication with the Employer’s Agent, QS, architect and site management.
  • Advise on materials, construction details and samples when required.
  • Maintain and organise onsite documentation.
  • Produce clear, concise reports of findings and inspections.

Our client is seeking a skilled Clerk of Works to represent client interests, ensure workmanship meets specification, and help drive excellence across major construction projects.

About the Role

As a Clerk of Works, you will play a vital role in overseeing onsite activities, ensuring that materials, methods and workmanship comply with all design information, drawings, specifications and quality standards. You will be the eyes and ears of the client — maintaining a strong presence onsite and reporting accurately on progress and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for :

  • Reviewing contract drawings, schedules and consultant information
  • Studying bills of quantities, specifications and project programmes
  • Understanding the Health & Safety Plan, relevant British Standards and Approved Codes of Conduct
  • Establishing communication with the Employer’s Agent, QS, architect and site management
  • Advising on materials, construction details and samples (when required)
  • Maintaining and organising onsite documentation
  • Producing clear, concise reports of findings and inspections
