Class 1 HGV Driver

Location: Clacton-on-Sea, Essex | Salary: £40,000 - £47,500 per annum | Hours: Monday to Friday | Contract: Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Class 1 HGV Driver to join our logistics team in Clacton-on-Sea. This is a fantastic opportunity for a reliable and safety-focused driver looking for a stable Monday-Friday role with competitive pay, nationwide driving and excellent benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive Class 1 HGVs nationwide, including operating a 26‑tonne vehicle.
• Carry out safe and timely deliveries and collections across the UK.
• Complete all driving duties in line with transport, distribution and compliance procedures.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of vehicle safety, road regulations, and distribution processes.
• Support the Logistics Manager with routing, scheduling, and load planning to improve efficiency.
• Ensure all PPE is worn and maintained in line with company policy.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping standards inside the vehicle and at the Operations Centre.
• Complete necessary paperwork, digital records, and tachograph entries accurately.
• Occasional overnight stays required.

Requirements for Class 1 HGV Driver

• Valid Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.
• Valid CPC qualification.
• Valid digital tachograph card.
• Previous experience in Class 1 HGV driving.
• Knowledge of drag/trailer combinations (training provided).
• Strong understanding of driver hours, WTD, and vehicle safety checks.
• Good communication skills and a professional approach.
