Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Civils Construction CRE for a major rail infrastructure project in Plymouth. The role involves overseeing civil and structural works, ensuring compliance, managing project delivery within schedule and budget. Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Site Agent CRE or Construction Manager CRE in a rail/civil engineering setting.
  • Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, PTS are required.
  • Hold Civils CRE - C competence.

Job description

Randstad are recruiting for an experienced Civils Construction CRE for work on a major rail infrastructure project in Plymouth. Works will include civils, structural works including bridge replacement, station upgrades and embankments.

This is a freelance contract commencing start of Jan 2026 and expected to run until April/May with potential to extend.

The Role:

Oversee construction and civil engineering for rail infrastructure projects, specializing in heavy civils and structural works.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all legislation, contract terms, health and safety, work package, and quality/environmental plans.
  • Delivery: Manage the project to deliver within schedule and budget, closely coordinating with site staff and surveyors to control costs.
  • Monitoring & Changes: Continuously track progress against objectives and collaborate with the site team to manage contractual changes.
  • Reporting: Provide formal progress updates to the Contracts Manager.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Site Agent CRE or Construction Manager CRE in a rail/civil engineering setting.
  • Relevant qualifications (SMSTS, PTS).
  • Degree/HNC/HND in civil engineering or equivalent.
  • Hold Civils CRE - C competence (Contractors Responsible Engineer).
