Job summary

A leading optical retailer in Inverness is seeking a Christmas Customer Assistant to provide excellent customer service and ensure a memorable shopping experience during the festive season. You'll be responsible for interacting with customers, managing transactions, and maintaining a well-stocked store. This temporary role could lead to permanent opportunities. Flexible working hours between 9:00 and 20:00, including weekends, are required.

Overview

The salary for this role is £12.40 per hour.

As a Christmas Customer Assistant, you'll be at the heart of the action, greeting customers with a smile, offering product and gift advice, and creating a memorable experience that leads to a happily ever after and keeps them coming back all year round.

Whilst this is a temporary contract, there may be the potential for a permanent role later depending on the opportunities in your local area, so it could be the start of a new career with us.

What the role involves
  • Customer Interaction: You\'ll offer thoughtful advice, recommend products and highlight our amazing offers to ensure everyone has an enjoyable shopping experience and no one leaves empty-handed.
  • Till Operation: Whether you\'re wrapping up purchases at the counter or supporting our self-checkout systems, you\'ll bring energy and efficiency to every transaction.
  • Stock Management: You\'ll take pride in keeping shelves full so our customers can always find exactly what they need during the busiest shopping season of the year.
  • Store Presentation: You will help ensure every area always looks its best.
  • Online order support: While this is a customer-facing role, you may assist with deliveries, picking, and packing for online orders as needed.
What you’ll need to have

Full training is provided for this role, but these are the essential skills or experience needed to succeed:

  • Available to work Bank Holidays including Black Friday week and weekend, Cyber Monday, Christmas Eve, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day.
  • Customer Service Skills: Comfortable approaching customers and providing a personalised experience that leaves a lasting impression.
  • Operations Ready: Ability to balance customer care with daily shopfloor and operational tasks.
  • Tech-Savvy: Ability to learn about and use new technology, including operating handheld devices, tills and self-checkouts.
  • Team Player: Collaborative, one-team mindset to help achieve store goals and keep morale high.
  • Physical Stamina: You\'ll be on your feet, standing, walking and lifting.
  • Brand Ambassador: Passion for Boots ethos, products and services and eagerness to share them with customers.
Desirable experience

Need to Know

We are now recruiting Christmas Customer Advisors for our 6441 store. We are looking for candidates to start with us from 23/09/2025 onwards. We have a variety of shifts available, working between the hours of 9.00 and 20.00 which will include weekends. The exact shift patterns will be discussed at interview.
