Job Description: China Country Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a highly driven and strategic Country Manager to spearhead our China growth operations, manage and develop high-impact partnerships, and lead a cross-functional team in one of our key markets. This role requires strong business acumen, relationship management expertise, and a passion for building and scaling innovative solutions within the education and EdTech ecosystem.
As the China Country Manager, you will own end-to-end business development, partner life cycle management, team oversight, and overall country-level growth strategy execution.
Key Responsibilities
Partnership Development & Account Management
- Identify, evaluate, and develop strategic relationships with high-potential partners in the B2B ecosystem.
- Oversee partner acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and long-term relationship management to ensure consistent business growth.
- Conduct weekly funnel reviews with regional KAMs/BDMs and partners to identify challenges, track progress, and remove bottlenecks.
- Maintain strong follow-ups, regular review calls, and structured feedback loops to ensure partner satisfaction and retention.
Sales Execution & Operations
- Drive efficient and effective lead utilisation through consistent follow-ups, low TAT, and increased customer/partner connectivity.
- Enable teams to adopt a consultative and concept-selling approach tailored to partner needs and market demands.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, marketing, product, operations, and customer experience, to ensure seamless execution and closure.
- Identify process gaps and implement improvement initiatives to enhance sales productivity and partner outcomes.
Market Intelligence & Growth
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to refine growth strategies.
- Proactively identify opportunities for expansion, new product offerings, or innovative partnership models.
- Represent the company in key industry forums, events, and stakeholder meetings.
Strategic Leadership & Team Management
- Define quarterly and annual business plans for China and ensure operational excellence across teams.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align country strategy with global and regional objectives.
- In the long-term: Establish, lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing Business Development and Key Account Management team to achieve revenue and growth targets.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- A strong and extensive agent network across China and East Asia is essential.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in business development, partnerships, or key account management, ideally in EdTech, SaaS, or B2B sectors.
- Proven experience in leading and managing teams in a high-growth environment.
- Strong verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to understand business and customer issues and pitch conceptual/solution-driven offerings.
- Highly detail-oriented, with strong organisational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet ambitious targets.
- Willingness to travel extensively, at least 75% of the time, weekly to grow and manage partnerships.
