Childrens Social Worker Safeguarding and Support #000A27AC1

Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.

This role is based on the Safeguarding and Support team where social workers manage Child in Need, Child Protection, pre-proceedings and Court matters.

The social work role is office-based, with some flexibility around working from home arrangements where agreed by the Team Manager. There is a preference that any successful candidate will work their contracted hours over 5 days.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out assessments of children in need, including those in need of protection and cared for children.
  • Co-ordinating service provision to meet the needs of those children.
  • Carrying out reviews and statutory visits in accordance with statutory and service procedures.
  • Direct work with children and their families to meet their assessed needs.
  • Respecting and promoting the identity needs of children arising from their cultural, religious, and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Engaging parents, carers, and children in meaningful and open working relationships, encouraging their full participation.
  • Supporting the development of parents and carers as required to achieve the best outcomes for children.
  • Collaborating with colleagues within the service and from other agencies when appropriate.
  • Observing all statutory regulations.
  • Meeting the Professional Registration Standards set by Social Work England.
  • Preparing and presenting information (both written and oral) to Panels, the Court, and other agencies.
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date records and ensuring effective communication with involved professionals.
  • Attending supervision sessions with the Team Manager, actively participating and preparing for each meeting.
  • Participating in all required training and undertaking Continuing Professional Development.
  • Adhering to all Council and service policies and procedures regarding administration and professional practice.
  • Contributing to policy making and the evaluation and review of services.
  • Undertaking duties appropriate to the level of responsibility for this post.
