Job summary

A community-focused organization in Belfast is seeking a Children's Services Assistant for their new Sense Hub. This permanent role involves supporting children with learning new skills, personal care, and social interactions. The ideal candidate will hold a QCF Level 2 Diploma and have experience working in special needs childcare. This position offers 25 hours per week at £12.50 per hour, aiming to enhance services for children and promote inclusivity for those with disabilities.

Qualifications

  • 6 months minimum experience in a childcare setting for children with special needs.
  • Willingness to attend training as needed.
  • Knowledge of BSL and Makaton is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support children with learning new skills.
  • Assist with personal care and hygiene.
  • Help children understand their environments and access the community.
  • Provide support with medication and well-being.
  • Facilitate the use of preferred communication methods.

It's an exciting time atSense, as we are now looking for Children's Services Assistants for our Children's service in our brand new Sense Hub Belfast! These are permanentpositions, with contracts available at 25 hours per week, offering £12.50 per hour.Opening its doors in 2025, the new Sense Hub Belfast will increase the support Sense can provide by 50% and offer new spaces for the community to engage with the organisation. In addition to expanding existing services, the Hub will enable Sense to provide new, vital services with a proven successful track record.These include: A day service for disabled adults, offering a range of regular activities where people can get support, try new things, and make new connections. An early intervention service for children with disabilities 0-8 years old that enhances existing support for deaf blind children. Arts, Sports and Wellbeing programmes in partnership with local providers. A transition and employment service that will support disabled people as they move into adulthood.The new Sense Hub Belfast will ensure that the 52,000 people across Northern Ireland with a complex disability have somewhere they can enjoy now and in the future.
