What You'll Do
As a Residential Childcare Officer, you'll be part of a caring, professional team that places young people at the heart of everything we do. Your role will include:
- Acting as a positive role model for young people and colleagues, promoting a culture of respect, inclusion, and warmth.
- Providing personalised care that meets each child's emotional, physical, and educational needs.
- Supporting young people through challenges with empathy, patience, and consistency.
- Contributing to care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.
- Ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures and the Children’s Homes Regulations.
- Supporting the daily running of the home – including activity planning, reporting, and liaising with families and professionals.
- Encouraging young people to take part in activities that build confidence, independence, and joy.

Preferred qualifications and experience
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards it.
- 1–2 years’ experience working with children or young people in care, education, or support settings.
- Understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and relevant childcare legislation.
- A full UK driving licence (preferred).
- Willingness to travel within Greater Manchester.
- Right to work in the UK.
