What You'll Do

As a Residential Childcare Officer, you'll be part of a caring, professional team that places young people at the heart of everything we do. Your role will include:

  • Acting as a positive role model for young people and colleagues, promoting a culture of respect, inclusion, and warmth.
  • Providing personalised care that meets each child's emotional, physical, and educational needs.
  • Supporting young people through challenges with empathy, patience, and consistency.
  • Contributing to care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures and the Children’s Homes Regulations.
  • Supporting the daily running of the home – including activity planning, reporting, and liaising with families and professionals.
  • Encouraging young people to take part in activities that build confidence, independence, and joy.

Preferred qualifications and experience
  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards it.
  • 1–2 years’ experience working with children or young people in care, education, or support settings.
  • Understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and relevant childcare legislation.
  • A full UK driving licence (preferred).
  • Willingness to travel within Greater Manchester.
  • Right to work in the UK.
