Job summary

A youth counselling organization in the United Kingdom is seeking Sessional Counsellors to provide one-to-one counselling for children and young people. Candidates should possess a Level 5 Diploma or higher in Counselling Children and Young People and have significant counselling experience. ABOUT THE ROLE

Provide one-to-one counselling for children and young people, offering safe, supportive and professional sessions.

Act on safeguarding concerns appropriately and liaise with safeguarding leads, parents, and professionals where required.

Work independently while keeping accurate records, managing referrals, evaluations, and consent forms.

Collaborate with schools, social care teams, and health providers to support the wellbeing of children and families.

Maintain professional standards through supervision, training, and CPD, staying up to date with legislation and best practice.

Represent Spurgeons positively, reflecting our ethos and commitment to transforming the lives of children and young people.

ABOUT YOU

Qualified to Level 5 Diploma (minimum Level 4) in Counselling Children and Young People.

Registered member of a recognised professional counselling body (e.g. BACP, UKCP, NCPS, PTUK).

At least 100 counselling hours with children and 100 hours with adults, ideally including school-based experience.

Confident working independently with strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.

Excellent understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and the challenges faced by children and young people.
