Band 5 Children’s Occupational Therapist – Barking and Dagenham

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Children’s Occupational Therapist in Barking and Dagenham as part of the Children’s Integrated Targeted Health Services. The post is a permanent, full‑time role (37.5 hours per week). You will join a small, innovative and supportive team, providing assessment and intervention for children and young people aged 0‑19 who have functional difficulties attributable to a wide range of special needs or disabilities. Assessment and intervention is delivered within the clinic but also in the child’s home, school, nursery or community settings. Opportunities exist to develop and run groups. The Children’s Occupational Therapy Team is based in a purpose‑built centre, co‑located with many other health services. Therapists have good access to clinical space as well as close working relations with multi‑disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities
  • Manage your own caseload and work without direct supervision
  • Provide functional assessment of children with special needs and disabilities, focusing on childhood occupations
  • Deliver family‑centred and evidence‑based occupational therapy intervention
  • Contribute to planning, co‑ordination, delivery and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service
  • Facilitate one‑to‑one intervention and groups for children, young people and parents
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical activity
  • Collaborate fully with Health, Education and Social Services professionals

Salary and Conditions

High‑Cost Area Supplement: 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum of £5,941 per annum, pro‑rate for part time). This post is subject to a probationary period.
