Job description

Sanctuary Personnel, an innovative and committed recruitment agency has a new permanent position available for a Children’s Home Manager to work full time (37 Hours) based in Derby.

The salary for this permanent Children’s Home Manager job is up to £50,269 per annum.

  • Be responsible/accountable for all regulatory requirements associated with OFSTED Registration and the homes statement of purpose including the day-to-day operation/management of an OFSTED regulated residential provision.
  • Ensure that the strategic overview and vision of DCC is embedded in the home’s practice and culture and that you take the lead in ensuring an open culture, one in which young people and others feel that they can make representation and are listened to.
  • All statutory duties are carried out, principally in relevant childcare legislation, children’s homes regulations and standards, ensuring all child protection policies are adhered to and concerns raised in accordance with these policies.
  • You and all staff have a shared planning approach in partnership with children, their relatives, carers and other professionals involved in their care.
  • You quality assure to meet compliance with legal OFSTED requirements and internal and external monitoring arrangements.
  • Accountability for placement matching, assessing risk of each placement, ensuring safe defensible decision-making to protect the safety of each young-person being placed in the home.
  • You form positive relationships within education institutions, leading promote and advocating for the educational needs and rights of the child.
  • You develop and maintain high standards of communication with all key stakeholders, working in partnership with others, building trust, respect and lasting relationships, increasing employee engagement, motivation and satisfaction.
  • You work with the Service Manager and Head of Service to maximise resources, managing staffing costs structures, rota’s to ensure all services are delivered in a way that meets the needs of the children and young people.
  • All records are clear, consistent and professional and are stored and held in adherence to GDPR regulation, Children’s Regulations and DDC policy.
  • Ensuring staff work towards national and local best practice guidelines in relation to OFSTED inspection requirements, statutory guidance, emerging case law and a wide range of legal frameworks, and policies and procedures by setting service, monitoring and challenging against quality standards.
  • Responsibility to ensure that effective change management is delivered where required, bringing staff and young people along on the journey negotiating with effective communication channels ensuring that they are kept open throughout with a range of stakeholders.

Requirements for this Children’s Home Manager role:

  • Diploma Level 5 Leadership and Management Qualification for Residential Childcare.
  • Understanding of relevant Residential Regulations.
  • Prior experience as Manager is preferable, however significant proven experience in Children’s Home’s Management as Deputy Manager essential.
