Childcare Solicitor

Experience: NQ-6 Years’ PQE

Location: Birmingham

Contract: Permanent, full-time (flexible working available)

A highly regarded Legal 500 law firm in Birmingham is seeking to recruit a Childcare Solicitor to join its well-established and specialist family and care team. This opportunity is open to newly qualified solicitors through to those with up to 6 years’ PQE.

The team has an excellent reputation for representing local authorities, parents, guardians, and other parties in public law children matters, and is known for its supportive culture, high-quality work, and commitment to social justice.

The Role

You will manage a varied caseload of public law childcare matters, including:

• Care proceedings
• Supervision and placement orders
• Interim applications
• Advocacy (depending on experience)
• Working closely with clients, social workers, and other professionals
• The level of responsibility will be tailored to your experience, with structured supervision and development support available at all levels.

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience in childcare/public law children work (or strong training seat exposure for NQs)
• Comfortable handling sensitive and emotionally complex cases
• Strong advocacy, communication, and organisational skills
• A genuine commitment to child welfare and public law work
