A local authority council in the UK is seeking a full-time Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) Coordinator. We are seeking a highly organised, compassionate and detail focused Child Death Overview Panel (CDOP) Coordinator to support the effective delivery of our statutory child death review processes. This pivotal role ensures that all child deaths of Berkshire residents are appropriately reviewed to identify learning, improve services and ultimately enhance the safety and wellbeing of children.
You will work closely with a variety of agencies including health, social care and the police, providing high quality coordination, data management and administrative support to the Child Death Overview Panel.
You will be able to work with sensitivity, professionalism and discretion in a role that involves managing highly confidential and sometimes distressing information. This post will require an individual with well-developed inter-personal skills who enjoys working as a team member as well as independently. You must be able to work proactively and enthusiastically to support the team.
There is a degree of unpredictability of service need so you must be adaptable, flexible and have the ability to prioritise appropriately.
Since 1 April 2008 there has been a legal requirement that Child Death Overview Panels (CDOPs) conduct a review for all child deaths aged 0-17 years who reside in their area.
The job of CDOP is to look at the circumstances around the child and determine what can be learned, to prevent further deaths and better support families and communities affected by the death of a child.
