Job description
Overview

After 15 years of outstanding leadership, our Founder and Chief Executive, Helen Milner, will be stepping down in 2026, and we are seeking a visionary and influential leader to lead Good Things Foundation into its next chapter.

Good Things Foundation is the UK’s leading digital inclusion charity. Since 2011, we have been at the forefront of tackling digital exclusion, working across the UK, Australia and beyond. We are a staff-mutual organisation, with both staff and trustees as Members, creating a unique culture where governance is embedded in everyday working life and our organisation’s values are lived in practice. Our vision is a world where everyone benefits from digital so that everyone can become healthier, happier and better off.

This is an exciting time to join Good Things Foundation, as the UK Government has launched its Digital Inclusion Action Plan, the pace of technological change is accelerating, and we are refreshing our strategy to seize new opportunities. Against this backdrop, our next Chief Executive will have the opportunity to drive systemic change, bringing together leaders across sectors, and ensure that everyone can thrive in the digital world.

Role and responsibilities

As Chief Executive, you will be the primary ambassador for Good Things Foundation, providing inspirational and strategic leadership to a talented Executive team, and staff, and act as a compelling public voice for digital inclusion, influencing policy and championing change at the highest levels. You will shape and deliver our strategy to 2028 and beyond, ensuring real and lasting impact, alongside holding responsibility for sustaining diverse income streams, securing at least £3m annually to fund our mission, while convening powerful partnerships and influential networks nationally and internationally to deliver innovative digital inclusion programmes.

Person specification

To achieve this, we are looking for an exceptional strategic leader who brings a proven track record at executive level, setting strategy and turning vision into delivery. You will have direct experience of influencing central and devolved government policy and driving social impact, alongside evidence of developing sustainable partnerships and generating significant income. Strong financial acumen and governance experience are essential, as is a deep commitment to digital and social inclusion and to equity, diversity, and inclusive leadership. You will be an outstanding communicator with the ability to inspire, convene, and advocate. Entrepreneurial yet delivery-focused, you will be ambitious for our mission and relentless in ensuring no one is left behind in our digital world.
