We’re seeking a proven aerodynamics leader to take ownership of performance delivery for a specific car-year project. You’ll set technical direction, lead the development program, and drive innovation to unlock race-winning gains. Partnering with aero and technical teams, you’ll combine computational and experimental methods to deliver concepts that deliver on track—while inspiring your team and shaping the aerodynamic strategy that powers our next generation of success.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of aerodynamic performance for a specific car year project, with direct technical management and oversight of the aerodynamic development
  • Work as part of the management group to construct a mutually agreed and communicated aerodynamic development plan
  • Monitor, guide and directly contribute to the aerodynamic development progress, working closely with the aero development teams
  • Promote an ambitious, positive, respectful, and logical approach to aerodynamic development with a clear strategic framework
  • Utilize computation and experimental methods throughout the design and development process, with an innovative and questioning approach
  • Suggest and contribute with new methods and processes to improve efficiency of aerodynamic ideas generation, design, testing, analysis, and reporting
  • Contribute to collaborative discussions and efforts to improve whole-car performance, offering ideas and taking on board feedback from others
  • Communicate key findings, opportunities, and threats to key stakeholders within the aerodynamics department and other key areas of the company
Qualifications
  • Highly innovative and creative, with a deep understanding of race aerodynamics and typical flow characteristics and behaviours
  • Strong understanding of the Formula 1® Technical Regulations
  • Experience in leading, managing and directly contributing to aerodynamic development across all areas of the car
  • Strong experience in state-of-the-art CFD/Wind Tunnel/Track aerodynamic testing approaches and methodologies
  • Ambitious and self-motivating with the ability to motivate and extract maximum potential from others
  • Well versed with CFD and 3D CAD software (preferably 3DExperience/CATIA)
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to line manage/lead teams effectively
  • Clear and concise communication, verbally and written, including with key stakeholders and directors
  • Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture
