Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Oncology and Palliative Directorate for a band 6 Charge Nurse (Oncology Day Unit) based on 6 West, at Charing Cross Hospital. This is a leadership opportunity for an experienced chemotherapy administrator who is energetic and flexible in their approach to work. It is suitable for a confident, committed clinical leader who thrives in a fast moving and changing care environment.

Responsibilities
  • Administration of SACT
  • Administration of supportive medication
  • Patient and family education and support, pre and post treatment
  • Assessing patients' physical and psychological well-being and providing the necessary support
  • Managing treatment side effects and complications
  • Communication and collaboration
  • Technical skills, e.g. Care of CVADs, Ports and PICC. Expertise in cannulation
  • Maintain accurate documentation
  • Prepping of patients, pretreatment (Bloods, consents, prescriptions)
  • Knowledge of supportive procedures around SACT administration, e.g. scalp cooling
