Job summary

A waste management firm in West Bromwich is looking for a Chemical Waste Compliance & Technical Lead. The role involves managing waste classification, compliance, and documentation while ensuring staff are adequately trained. Candidates should have relevant qualifications such as a BSc in Chemistry and at least two years of experience in waste management. The position offers a pay rate starting at £15.91 per hour, working Monday to Friday from 08:45 am to 16:30 pm.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the waste management industry.
  • Knowledge of regulations related to waste management.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update waste logs and records.
  • Ensure staff are trained in waste log use.
  • Manage on-site waste stock according to classification.
  • Direct Waste Supervisor on storage locations.
  • Liaise with QC for waste analysis interpretation.
  • Create and maintain waste SDS using EXESS.
  • Provide waste-handling advice.
  • Support waste-related investigations.
  • Participate in audits and EMS activities.

Job description

Pertemps West Bromwich are looking for a Chemical Waste Compliance & Technical Lead to manage and oversee waste classification, compliance, storage and documentation within a regulated chemical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update waste logs and records
  • Ensure staff are trained and competent in waste log use
  • Manage on-site waste stock and bund quantities by classification
  • Direct the Waste Supervisor on storage locations and sampling
  • Liaise with QC to interpret waste analysis and ensure correct labelling
  • Create and maintain waste SDS using EXESS (Lisam)
  • Provide waste-handling advice across the business
  • Support investigations into waste-related incidents
  • Participate in audits and EMS activities (ISO 14001)
Essential Requirements
  • BSc in Chemistry (or similar)
  • Knowledge of Duty of Care regulations
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the waste management industry
  • Excellent Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
Desirable
  • CIWM/WAMITAB qualification
  • Forklift Truck Licence
Hours and Pay

08:45am-16:30pm Monday to Friday paying upwards of £15.91 dependant on experience
