A leading healthcare provider in Manchester is seeking a strategic leader to oversee quality within the Cellular Pathology Clinical Service. Qualifications

  • HCPC registered with significant experience in Histopathology.
  • Strong communication skills and a proven record of strategic leadership.
  • Demonstrated management experience or a recognised management qualification.
  • Knowledge of current pathology service challenges, health and safety legislation and UKAS accreditation.
  • Ability to drive modernization initiatives within financial constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and shape the quality strategy for the Cellular Pathology Clinical Service across all hospital sites.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and UKAS standards.
  • Drive the adoption of modern technology, including digital pathology roll‑outs.
  • Collaborate with the Manchester Cytology Centre.
  • Partner with senior leadership to manage financial resources.

Overview

Are you the leader we are looking for to oversee quality within the Cellular Pathology Clinical Service at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) ensuring we continue to offer high‑quality services to the Trust?

In conjunction with the Clinical Director, Cellular General Manager and Lead Healthcare Scientists, you will partner with senior leaders to drive quality improvement across Histopathology, Cytopathology and Mortuary services. Your role will support the implementation of new technologies, such as the Sakura X120 Tissue Processors, A120 Automated Embedding Centres and the clinical validation of digital pathology.

  • Provide strategic direction to keep the department at the forefront of pathology practice.
