Job summary

A community support service is seeking a Personal Assistant to help an 8-year-old girl with a visual impairment and hearing loss. The role involves supporting social outings, providing guidance, and assisting with basic needs. A friendly, trustworthy, and patient individual with car access is essential. Flexible part-time hours available in the Cyncoed area of Cardiff at £14.00 per hour, with the requirement for a probation period and DBS check.

Overview

Personal Assistant

A little about myself: I am a wonderful 8 year old girl living in the Cyncoed area of Cardiff. I am a very content and happy little girl. I enjoy the park, softplay, swimming and dressing up. I have a visual impairment and profoundly deaf. I’m non-verbal, but I use a pecs board to communicate my basic needs. I can walk independently indoors but I need guidance when out and about due to my vision impairment and I use a wheelchair for medium to long distances.

Purpose of job

I need someone to support me to access activities in my local community.

Place of work

In the community.

Hours of work

Hours of work can be flexible. Weekdays from 3:45pm to 5:45pm twice a week. Or Saturdays or Sundays any time between 10am and 6pm.

Rate of pay

£14.00 an hour

Tasks involved
  • Taking me on social outings.
  • Guiding me when out and about (including pushing a small wheelchair).
  • Supporting me when needing the toilet.
Type of person required
  • A friendly, caring, trustworthy, patient person.
  • Car driver with access to a car is essential.
  • Experience working with disabled people is desirable.
  • Experience working with children is desirable.
  • Able to pick up a small, fold-up wheelchair.
About the job

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid 4 weekly. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
