Overview

Role: Caseworker (Mental Health)

Salary: £26,000 per annum, pro rata

Contract type: Sessional

Working hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week

Location: Multiple locations surrounding West Yorkshire including Bradford, Leeds, Keighley, Wakefield, Huddersfield

We’re looking for a Mental Health Caseworker to help claimants who are furthest from work. You’ll provide one-to-one support, signposting to the right mental health services, and documenting progress and next steps.

You’ll use your knowledge of mental health assessment tools to overcome barriers, maintain accurate records, and promote independence and wellbeing. The role requires flexibility across contract areas, on-site JCP interventions, and attendance at external appointments, with the ability to work autonomously and manage your own workload. What you’ll do
  • Be responsible for and aware of contractual targets in relation to the number of start and completion outcomes we are contracted to have on our provision
  • Train customers in specific employability and functional skills in line with the requirements of the local labour market, and specific employers. Relevant customer documentation to be completed in line with company procedures
  • Carry out assessments of the customers to identify their transferable skills, strengths, and experience
  • Provide one to one support for our customers, job search sessions, exploring the local labour market and securing interviews with employers where required
  • Assist customers to produce a realistic action plan leading back to work, including considering obstacles to the successful achievement of the plan and how to overcome them
  • Provide one to one support to customers with mental health needs, signposting them to mental health support routes and improving their wellbeing
  • Utilise custom-made and recognised tools to assess the severity and complexity of the claimants mental health needs through diagnostic assessment, identify barriers associated with mental health and produce a SMART action plan for the customer
  • Work in partnership with community mental health services and other partner agencies to provide wrap around individual care and support locally.
What you’ll need
  • Level 2 English and Maths as a minimum
  • Relevant associated Mental Health Qualification
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of delivering training and/or teaching people of all ages (minimum 2 years)
  • Previous experience of working with individuals claiming income support and incapacity benefit and the barriers they face
  • Knowledge of Jobcentre Plus programmes and incentives for unemployed people
  • A commitment to Mental Health equality / diversity, health & safety (including Safeguarding) and experience of delivering appropriate related strategies
  • Full UK Driving License as this role requires travel
  • Overseas equivalent qualifications will be accepted
