Job description

The Bridges Medical Centre is looking for a caretaker / cleaner. We are combining the jobs of 2 members of staff who are retiring. The cleaning part of the job is for a defined area of the building for 2 - 3 hours (to be confirmed) a day. This can be worked either early morning 6am to 8am or evening 6pm to 8pm. The caretaker part of the job is 8 hours and can be worked flexibly. There is a requirement to cover annual leave for the cleaner of Littlemoor Surgery.

The Bridges is a large, busy, friendly practice. We have a range of clinical, cleaning and admin staff who work together as a team. We are looking for a hard working individual to provide a high standard of cleanliness for our patients and staff.

Main duties of the job

The cleaning part of the role is for a defined part of the building as other cleaners are employed to clean the rest. Cleaning needs to be done daily to a high standard, particularly in clinical areas. Flexibility is needed as rooms are in use at different times.

The caretaker part of the role includes simple DIY, stock ordering and liaising with contractors.

Job responsibilities:

DAILY JOBS

  • Empty bins into the correctly coloured bags
  • Clean all sinks and work surfaces
  • Clean and disinfect all toilets
  • Damp dust all surfaces
  • Tidy rooms ready for use and change the couch roll
  • Mop and wash floors in treatment rooms, waiting room and toilet
  • Maintain supplies of cleaning materials
  • Make sure all windows are shut and doors locked at the end of the day

WEEKLY JOBS

  • Damp dust curtain rails and window ledges
  • Clean telephones
  • Clean inside of windows

Undertake any other cleaning tasks that may occasionally be required, prior notification will be given and overtime paid at the hourly rate.

Caretaker Job Summary: To maintain the building in a good safe state of repair

Job responsibilities:

  • Stock ordering, non medical stock
  • Keep clinical rooms stocked up with non medical stock
  • Keep stock room tidy and in rotation
  • Sort deliveries out in a timely manner
  • Keep soap gels, hand towels and toilet rolls topped up
  • Small DIY and decorating jobs
  • Liaison with builders, contractors, plumbers, pest control etc
  • Keep rubbish sorted, (normal, recycling and clinical)
  • Change Sharps bins every three months
  • Change curtains every six months or sooner if soiled.
  • Run taps where rooms are not in constant use and record as per Legionnaires policy
  • Deal with spillages and block toilets and sinks
  • Change timings of heating and car park lights as required
  • Any other tasks as requested by management
