THEATRES, ANAESTHETICS, CRITICAL CARE, PAIN & PRE-OP DIRECTORATE CARE SUPPORT WORKER - CRITICAL CARE Band 2 - 12 Months Fixed Term Contract (Full/Part Time)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Clinical Support Workers to join theCritical Care team at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust. This role is based within a high-acuity environment, supporting patients with complex needs and working closely with the multidisciplinary team. Post holders will assist with personal care, basic clinical tasks, and help maintain a safe and clean setting, contributing to the smooth running of the Critical Care. The position involves working a rotational shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

We welcome applications from individuals who hold a GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics. Ideal applicants will be compassionate, reliable, and eager to contribute to patient wellbeing in a critical care setting. Main duties of the job
  • Provide high standards of cleanliness within Critical Care.
  • Be responsible for the safe storage of equipment and consumables.
  • To be responsible for environmental cleaning.
  • To maintain the safety and security of patients, staff and visitors.
  • Assist in the achievement and maintenance of high standards of patient care.
  • Provide support and assistance to the Critical Care multidisciplinary team when carrying out procedures.
  • Participate in unit governance and audits.
  • Support in the management of procurement.
  • Answering phone calls in a polite and professional manner, assisting within the scope of practice and directing calls to the relevant persons.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
  • Maths and English qualification - GCSE A-D, or Grade 4-9, or Functional Skills Level 1
  • Care Certificate or ability to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
  • QCF/NVQ Level 2 in healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience
Knowledge & Training
  • Ability to recognise limitations of knowledge and competence and practice within these boundaries
  • Prepared to undergo further training
  • Able to use and update IT systems with patient information
  • An understanding of their role within the team
  • Prepared to complete CCN3 CSW competencies
Experience
  • Able to assess patient's health, safety and wellbeing while undertaking personal care and referring/escalating to other staff as appropriate
  • Regular contact with bodily fluids when carrying out interventions and treatments
  • Frequent moderate/intense effort required for periods of time
  • Experience in a healthcare environment
  • Manual handing of patients (including toileting, bathing and turning patients), equipment and stores
Communication & Relationship Skills
  • Evidence of effective communication skills including Verbal Written (legible handwriting) Non-verbal Compassion and respect
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with patients, relatives and / or carers
