Job description
Overview

Care Assistant for a senior lady, part-time at £13.74/hr in Newcastle upon Tyne. FTE equivalent to £26.8k.

We are currently looking to recruit a team of Support Workers to provide support for an 88-year-old lady who lives in her own home. She has a diagnosis of dementia and having consistent daily support in place with experienced support workers she trusts will enable her to continue living at home. The purpose of your role will be to enable her to enjoy her remaining time at home, support to ensure her safety and assistance with her social and physical needs. She is a gentle, kind and funny lady with a quiet personality. Family and friends are a big part of her life and she enjoys a coffee and a catch up. She keeps a lovely fresh home environment and maintaining dignity & respect is paramount to her care going forward. She enjoys watching films, dramas, catch up TV, soaps, antique programmes and keeping up with the news and what is going on in the local area. She uses walking frames to get around in and outside her home and, as she is susceptible to falls, you will need to ensure she is safe and supported when moving around her home. She also has use of a stairlift to access the bathroom upstairs and you will assist with this and ensure her safety.

It will be an advantage if you have a background in nursing care or support work in the private care sector, especially supporting people at home. Ideally you will have an understanding of dementia and/or supporting people with mental health needs. We are looking for a staff team who demonstrate exceptional care and compassion towards the older generation, always maintaining dignity and compassion. You should be patient, friendly and be happy to support with repeated tasks each day. She would love someone who enjoys jigsaws, likes to chat, visiting the coast and a lunch of fish and chips. If this sounds like you we would love to hear from you.
