Job description
Responsibilities
  • Share with other staff to meet the personal care needs of service users, respecting dignity and promoting independence, including assistance with undressing, washing, bathing and toileting, and support for their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
  • Assist service users with mobility problems, mild learning difficulties and other physical disabilities, promote independent continence and help with the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
  • Ensure service users retain their dignity and individuality.
  • Provide care for people who are dying or have progressive illnesses (end‑of‑life care).
  • Engage in the promotion of mental and physical well‑being.
  • Read and write reports, attend staff and service‑user meetings, and participate in training activities as directed.
  • When professionally trained, administer medications.
  • Comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures, including the service‑user care plan, medication requirements and completion of accurate daily records.
  • Report to the registered manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user.
  • Encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.
  • Attend mandatory training where appropriate, including induction and NVQ or equivalent.
  • Identify and support service users with capacity and those who lack capacity appropriately.
  • Understand the requirements of the New Fundamental Standard Regulations 9‑20 in relation to the CQC inspection regime.
  • Perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
