We are seeking a Permanent Part Time Cardiology Technologist at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC.

Days of work: Rotating, Days, Monday to Thursday, alternating with Tuesday to Thursday

Shift times: 08:00 to 16:00

What will you work on?

The Cardiology Technologist performs techniques related to Electro Cardiogram (ECG) testing, stress testing, Holter and event Recorders, pacemaker monitoring, and other diagnostic cardiac equipment.

  • Explains procedures to prepare patients for testing such as ECG, stress testing, Holter monitoring, pacemaker monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and related tests, answering questions.
  • Performs non-invasive examinations such as ECG, stress testing, Holter and event monitoring, and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, analyzing and recording data for interpretation by cardiologist or internist.
  • Explains cardiac pacemaker screen system to patients, monitors pacemakers, and notifies medical staff of abnormalities; contacts patients for repeat recordings as needed.
  • Monitors patients and scans test strips during cardiograms and stress tests, taking action upon recognizing abnormalities.
  • Scans and analyzes ECG, stress, Holter, and blood pressure monitoring test strips, summarizing for medical interpretation.
  • Transfers ECGs in management systems for interpretation.
  • Demonstrates testing procedures and equipment operation as required.
  • Monitors departmental activity levels and assists staff to meet service requests.
  • Maintains statistics, files reports, and keeps equipment in good condition.
  • Participates in Quality Management/Assurance programs and LEAN initiatives.
  • Assists in staff and student orientation and training.
  • Maintains and updates clinical knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
