CAMHS Receptionist/Administrator

This post is a generic reception and administration role and will require working across CAMHS sites. The role includes various administrative tasks as per the job description. Adaptability, the ability to initiate changes, and a flexible, unflappable approach to work are essential and help maintain the high standards of our service.

We are looking for a person who can provide comprehensive reception and administrative support to a multidisciplinary team. The candidate will be the first point of contact for families/carers and other members of the service user’s network.

The successful candidate will need to meet all essential criteria as detailed in the person specification and will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Responsibilities
  • Provide reception duties: assist people in a helpful, diplomatic and tactful manner, screen and re‑route calls, take clear concise messages, and deal with general enquiries.
  • Maintain the reception area, including replenishing leaflets and supplies.
  • Oversee the signing‑in procedure for families and visitors on arrival.
  • Allocate clinic rooms in relation to patient appointments.
  • Update the Trust patient database system (contact details, appointment outcomes, etc.).
  • Act independently to prioritise and complete daily tasks and ongoing workloads within agreed timescales, managing multiple tasks while maintaining quality standards.
  • Provide a professional and confidential service: audio/cartridge tying, preparing correspondence, proofreading documents, photocopying, faxing, filing, scanning and dealing with post.
  • Provide cover for colleagues, as required, within CAMHS sites.
  • Assist teams with the development of patient information and team leaflets.
  • Ensure that relevant policies and procedures are adhered to.
Qualifications

The receptionist plays an important role as often the first face‑to‑face contact for families/carers and the young person’s network.
