Overview

The postholder will play a key role in the Centre's operational management and oversee the work of the administrative team. The Business and Administrative Lead will work with the Centre's senior clinical leaders to develop and implement workplans and activities across all areas of the Centre's work, taking an important role in the Centre's business, digital and financial planning. We would like to appoint a person who shares our values, aims and possesses excellent administrative, financial and business skills.

Responsibilities
  • The postholder will work with the Centre leadership team to ensure effective and efficient service delivery including training, licenses and invoicing across the teams.
  • This is a valued role within the centre, integral to day to day functioning and project planning.
  • The role will suit an organised individual with the ability to prioritise and plan work whilst remaining focussed on the values and aims of the Centre.
  • Support the Centre's service strategic and business planning processes.
  • Develop and sustain information systems that capture accurate information and deliver reports on activity, income and expenditure and provide future forecasts.
  • Work with relevant managers in commissioning agencies, local authorities and provider organisations nationally and internationally to ensure that all agreements remain relevant and current.
  • Provide skilled and facilitative financial management support to enable efficient management of resources.
  • Manage day-to-day invoicing and expenditure across all financial systems for the service, assisted by the Centre's administrative staff.
  • Work with the leadership team and finance departments within SLAM and KCL to ensure shared understanding of financial issues and that agreed strategies to meet financial targets are implemented.
  • Provide overall management of the Centre for Parent and Child Support website and social media resources.
  • Responsible for management of the administrative team across the Centre.
  • This is a non-clinical role; the postholder will be expected to support and influence both clinical and non-clinical policy and procedures with the clinical leads for each area of work.

Qualifications
  • Essential: Relevant Degree or Professional Qualification or Equivalent Experience
  • Desirable: CMS/DMS in NHS Management or other management qualifications
  • Desirable: Management qualification, management training course completion or line management experience
Experience
  • Essential: Experience of project management and planning in the NHS or social care
  • Essential: Experience of budget planning and forecasting
  • Desirable: Experience of managing a web-based resource or social media
Knowledge/Skills

About us

About our locations: Michael Rutter Centre based on the Maudsley Hospital site (headquarters). Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill within walking distance from Ruskin Park. (Due to move to the Pears Maudsley Children and Young People at the Maudsley Hospital in late 2025/early 2026)

Flexible Working: We offer flexible working and are happy to discuss flexibility at the interview stage. In this role you will be able to work Monday to Friday in the time frames from 8am to 6pm, giving you good work-life balance. This may include working early mornings, later evenings or Saturdays as part of the core working hours for this post.
