Major Duties

As a Cafeteria Attendant you are responsible for food preparation and serving of meals in the cafeteria. You will assist the Cafeteria Supervisor in maintaining the overall daily operations of the cafeteria.

This advertisement is for a limited term – 6 month contract.

Specific Responsibilities

• Daily preparation of food; sandwiches, salad bar, soup, catering orders etc.
• Use and operate cafeteria appliances safely and as required.
• Daily baking duties using the oven.
• Serve hot entrée lunch to employees, customers and other guests.
• Prepare items as requested by customer.
• Refill / restock food items throughout the day; salad bar, sandwiches, beverage fridge, snack cart etc.
• Receive payment for food items purchased.
• Receive and process incoming catering orders. Work with the Cafeteria Supervisor to determine the best method of catering (i.e., in‑house, outside vendor etc.).
• Wash dishes as required.
• Store silverware as well as coffee/tea mugs and plates after they have been cleaned.
• Conduct an inventory review weekly to determine the needs for the following week.
• Order food and supplies weekly using the online order form. Unpack and store supplies.
• Receive incoming orders from supplier and check against the order made for accuracy.
• Maintain coffee stations throughout the building; clean, refill and restock items.
• Thoroughly clean the steam table.
• Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the cafeteria.
• Prepare and store food in line with the Ministry of Health guidelines and regulations.
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.

Health and Safety

• Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guards unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout‑tagout methods.
• Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts.
• Report defect in any equipment or protective device.
• Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks.
• Attend all required health, safety and environmental training.
• Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor.
• Assist in investigating accidents/incidents.

Qualifications

Education :

• Secondary school diploma.
• Completion of Food Safety Handling Course.

Experience :

• Two to three years of experience in food services. A background in baking and/or catering is considered an asset.
• Experience with food preparation and presentation.
• Knowledge of common safe food handling practices.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office; Work Excel Outlook preferred.
