Salary: £44,910 - £58,810

About the Team

Hi, I’m Tim Seals, Principal Software Engineer and C++ Discipline Lead for Broadcast Replay at Hawk-Eye Innovations.

We build systems that power some of the most exciting and critical moments in sport and entertainment — from instant replays to live performances seen by millions. Our Broadcast Replay team leads the charge on developing robust solutions for:

  • Live and post-match playback
  • Multi-angle video capture and synchronisation
  • High-performance, low-latency output systems

All while meeting the demanding standards of elite sport and top-tier broadcasting.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Designing and implementing C++ components for broadcast replay systems
  • Interfacing with video hardware, network protocols, and audio/video processing pipelines
  • Building efficient, multithreaded, performance-optimised C++ applications
  • Supporting live event deployments and on-site system testing
  • Collaborating with product teams and end users to refine solutions
  • Upholding high standards of code quality and contributing to best practices
What We’re Looking For
  • Proficiency in modern C++ (ideally C++17 or C++20)
  • Experience writing robust, multithreaded, performance-focused code
  • Familiarity with development tools like Git and Visual Studio
  • Confidence with debugging workflows and troubleshooting
  • Exposure to libraries such as Qt, FFmpeg, OpenGL, or audio tools
  • Bonus: knowledge of network protocols, encoding, or replay systems
Bonus Points For
  • Experience working with AWS
  • Passion for sport or high-performance technology
  • Previous work in broadcast, live events, or time-critical systems
