Job description
Overview

focus of this role will be on systems used by C&P, including the ongoing improvement of our tendering system, nationwide user training, and supporting the rollout of new digital platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Identify stakeholders, complete stakeholder analysis, and review throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements, and work with suppliers or internal development teams to identify solutions that support operational needs.
  • Provide clear advice and guidance to business functions on system-related decisions, helping teams make informed choices.
  • Create and maintain a detailed project plan, managing delivery through the full lifecycle. Work closely with stakeholders to agree realistic timelines, track progress, and ensure key milestones are achieved. You will also be responsible for providing regular project updates to the Project Manager and Programme Manager.
  • Oversee system testing processes to ensure new and updated systems meet business requirements and function as expected.
  • Lead business change activities to support the successful adoption of new systems and enhancements, including creating and managing a business change plan to ensure changes are effectively embedded across teams.
  • Design training plans and materials and deliver system training both face-to-face and virtually to users across the country. Training may be delivered to individuals or large groups, ensuring all users have the knowledge and access required for their role.
  • Organise and facilitate stakeholder engagement activities such as workshops, user groups, and drop-in sessions to build relationships and maintain open communication.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying and implementing quality and efficiency initiatives aligned with Network Rail and Route Services standards.

Organization details

The Business Systems Team, part of the Finance and Business Support function within Route Services, is made up of four sub-teams: Projects, Development, and two Support teams. This role sits within the Projects team, which works closely with Engineering Services, Supply Chain Operations and Commercial & Procurement (C&P) to deliver and embed internally developed systems and SaaS solutions.

Vacancy type: permanent, 35 hours per week, Hybrid working of 3 days in the office.

Location: The Quadrant Milton Keynes.

Closing date: 13th October 2025. Band & Salary: Band 4B £35,582 - £42,218.
