Job summary

A specialist recruitment consultancy is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive sales of warehouse loading bay safety solutions across the UK. You'll focus on distribution centres, food, and beverage sectors, building relationships with health and safety managers and other key decision-makers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field sales, particularly within warehouse-associated facilities. A competitive compensation package with a base salary of £60,000–£65,000 and potential earnings from commission is offered.

Business Development Manager – Warehouse Loading Bay Systems

Location: Birmingham, West Midlands

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full Time

Role Overview:

The Business Development Manager – Warehouse Loading Bay Systems will drive sales of loading bay safety solutions across the UK, focusing on distribution centres, food & beverage, and retail.

Responsibilities
  • Field sales role promoting loading bay safety solutions for warehousing.
  • Safeguard against accidental drive‑aways into warehouse facilities by targeting health & safety managers, operations managers and finance managers.
  • Manage typical loading bay solutions ranging from £25,000‑£150,000.
  • Target customers include Tesco, Next, DHL, TJ Max and UPS.
  • Work within a national team of two to grow existing loading bay value of circa £1.5m.
  • Develop a network of ~10 industrial door/loading bay installers and subsequently sell directly into end users and owners of warehousing facilities or 3PL companies.
Qualifications
  • Proven hunter with a field sales track record in business development.
  • Sales experience into warehouse‐associated facilities.
  • Experience in distribution centres, food & beverage or retail is ideal.
  • Specific safety sector experience not essential but may be useful.
  • Knowledge of loading bays not required but may be advantageous.
  • Self‑starter with a coachable mentality.
  • May consider operations experience in warehousing looking for field sales.
