Job description

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager/ Technical Sales professional to grow new and existing business across our Timber Engineering division, specialising in roof trusses, engineered joists and timber frame housing solutions.

This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on generating and converting new enquiries, developing long-term customer relationships and strengthening our presence with housebuilders and builders’ merchants across small, medium and large-scale projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Identifying and securing new opportunities
  • Managing a live pipeline of prospects and projects, and working closely with our internal design, estimating and production teams to deliver technically sound, commercially competitive solutions

You will be expected to quickly establish credibility with customers, understand their build programmes and specifications, and position our business as a trusted, value-adding partner.

Key relationships will include:
  • Regional and national housebuilders
  • SME developers
  • Contractors and builders’ merchants

You will be proactive in networking, attending site visits and industry events, and maintaining regular contact with key decision-makers including buyers, estimators, site managers and directors.

To be successful, you will have proven experience in:
  • Timber engineering, timber frame
  • Offsite construction or a closely related building products sector
You will have a strong understanding of (essential):
  • Roof trusses, floor joists and structural timber solution
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and have confident technical conversations with customers

You will be self-motivated, target-driven and comfortable managing your own territory, with the commercial awareness to identify profitable opportunities and close deals.
