About the Role

This newly created role reports directly to the founder and plays a key role in driving and

leading client acquisition and commercial growth for the agency.

The Business Development Manager will play a key role in harnessing INCEPTION’s

growing reputation and global expertise in innovative design and creativity to identify

opportunities, build relationships, and convert prospects into high-value clients.

You will play a pivotal role in identifying new opportunities, pitching our unique value

proposition, and building strong relationships across b2c and b2b sectors, including brand licensing,

gaming, finance, aerospace, and pharma.

You will help shape the future of the agency by:

Drive the new business pipeline through identifying and developing new clients opportunities and converting leads into meetings.

  • Implement and follow strategies for new business opportunities through multiple channels (email, telemarketing, LinkedIn, live events etc).
  • Work with the founder, heads of departments and other stakeholders on new business opportunities and RFPs, attending when asked.

Support with the marketing of the agency, from socials through to award entries.

What You’ll Do
  • Target and prospect new business opportunities and markets that fit Inception's values, capabilities and commercial goals, ensuring that the CRM pipeline stays up to date.
  • Build relationships with new clients across sectors such as licensing, gaming, finance, aerospace and pharma, and gauge their needs and develop proposals to address them.
  • Attend meetings with new prospects to present Inceptions' capabilities and ask relevant questions.
  • Carry out competitor analysis and stay up to date with industry trends, opportunities and threats.
  • Attend key meetings and provide input related to marketing and new business needs, and requirements
  • Keep case studies up to date and upload relevant work to the website and company socials.
  • Work with creatives to evolve credential presentations, making them client-specific.
  • You'll understand and be able to communicate knowledge of the skill sets and abilities of Inception externally.
  • Ensure a seamless onboarding of new clients to the project management team.
  • You’ll represent Inception at industry events, building connections and establishing the agency as a trusted leader.
  • Organise and attend networking events to increase the agency’s visibility and build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients.
  • You’ll be an advocate for sustainable business practices in every aspect of client engagement and project delivery.
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a sales/business development or marketing role within the exhibitions, events, or creative industries.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and driving growth through innovative commercial strategies.
  • Experience in international trade show event markets and a willingness to travel globally.
  • A proven track record of operational excellence, experience with a CRM system and Google Workspace.
  • A results-driven manager who has a passion for brand activations.
  • Someone with strong commercial acumen with the ability to drive business growth, profitability, and international expansion.
  • Someone with strong project management skills, a bonus if you have production, creative and project management workflow experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence leadership, clients, and industry partners.
  • You’ll have a growth mindset and be an avid problem solver who is proactive and adaptable to overcoming challenges in high-pressure environments.
  • Have a forward-thinking, strategic mindset with a structured, analytical approach to problem-solving.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: £45k - £55k depending on experience.
