Job Overview

We are currently working in partnership with a well-established, family-run Freight Forwarder and Distribution business, who are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join their team as part of their continued growth.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior sales professional with a proven track record in International Logistics & Freight Forwarding to take ownership of new business development across Air, Sea, and European Road Freight services.

Our client is a respected logistics provider based in Portsmouth, operating their own HGV fleet, warehousing facilities, and holding membership in two major pallet networks. Their international team manages end-to-end freight solutions including bookings, monitoring, documentation, and customs clearance in-house.

As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across the South of the UK and beyond. You\'ll also manage an active pipeline, nurture key accounts, and collaborate closely with the operations team to ensure clients receive best-in-class service.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively developing new business across Air, Sea, and Road freight markets.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Designing and implementing innovative sales strategies to promote services.
  • Managing your own sales pipeline, diary, and appointments.
  • Monitoring key accounts to identify further growth opportunities.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider operations team to deliver tailored logistics solutions.
Job Requirements
  • An experienced BDM within the freight forwarding/logistics sector.
  • Commercially minded with strong knowledge of international logistics.
  • Confident in the full sales cycle, from lead generation to closing deals.
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, and target-driven with a customer-focused approach.
  • A strong communicator, both face-to-face and virtually.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Based within reach of the South of the UK (Portsmouth/ Hampshire area preferable).
